Chinese Healthy Balls (or Iron Baoding balls) date all the way back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). They are used to activate pressure points in the hands, leading to a multitude of health benefits. The balls are hollow and have chiming sounding plates inside. The chiming creates vibrations that help to activate acupressure points and reduce stress. I don't pretend to be an expert in feng shui. The following is information gathered from various sources, people who should know, but... However, we do have some very good feng shui information on our learn stuff pages for those that would like to learn more, and decide for themselves.

The Yin & Yang Used in Feng Shui ~
In China, yin & yang is a symbol of balance, representing the sun & the moon, masculine & feminine, hot & cold, light & dark, etc., the opposing forces of the universe. The symbol shows how the two are interconnected, and actually contain a small part of the other.

It is said the yin exists in yang, yang exists in yin, and one cannot exist without the other, they are dependent. Together, yin & yang create chi, the life force that makes up the universe. In feng shui mythology, the first time chi moved it created yang energy, man, and when it rested it created yin energy, woman. After creating male and female, chi went on to create the universe.

Although the Yin Yang symbol is not often used alone, in feng shui, it is often a component of other cures, such as the bagua, where it is often located in the center.

Metal Element In Feng Shui ~
The iron baoding balls are metal. In feng shui, the element of metal relates to success, money, and power, even destruction and transformation. The Metal element is represented by the colors of gold, silver, white, or anything made of metal. To enhance your success sector, place something made of metal in the South, hopefully pleasing to the eye like our yin yang iron balls.

Cloisonne is an enamelware art form. Basically, the design is laid down in thin metal and the hollows are carefully filled with layers of colorful enamel. The pieces are then fired, buffed, filled again, re fired, buffed, etc., until the piece is complete.

Iron Baoding Ball Details:
These cloisonne health balls come in the Yin & Yang design, normally with 6 yin yang symbols on each ball. Sometimes, they do come in with only 4. If this is important, feel free to email us to ask what is available. Base colors may vary from deep blue, black or green. The individual balls measure approximately 1 1/2" in diameter.

Each set of Chinese exercise balls comes with 2 balls. Inside each ball is a chiming plate. Each set has a ball with a high tone and a ball with a low tone. They say the chiming is a Yin & Yang thing and part of how the balls have such a relaxing effect on people. You can read more about that here.

Each set of yin yang balls comes in a silk brocade box. Each therapy ball box comes in assorted colors, usually red, green, black, or blue. Each set of chiming therapy balls comes with basic instructions for use and brief history of the Chinese Iron Direction Baoding Balls.

As you rotate the iron balls in your hand, the vibrations stimulate the various acupressure points of the hand, enhancing the flow of energy, or chi, throughout the entire body. We have sold many sets to people that use them for relaxation and stress relief, arthritis, and carpal tunnel syndrome.
