The Pentagram

The Pentagram is a symbol of a star encased in a circle. Always with 5 points (one pointing upward), each has its own meaning. In Witchcraft, the upward point of the star is representative of the spirit. The other four points all represent an element; earth, air, fire, and water. All these things contribute to life and are a part of each of us. All the elements and the spirit are within the circle to symbolize that everything is connected.

The number '5' has always been regarded as mystical and magical, yet essentially 'human'. We have five fingers/toes on each limb extremity. We commonly note five senses - sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste. There are many more correspondences to the number 5. I will leave it at that.

Pentagrams are very ancient symbols, long been believed to be a potent protection against evil, and may be worn to shield the wearer or hung in the house to shield the home. Notice all the places you see the 5 pointed star... Money, flag, top of the Xmas tree...  The pentagon is the center of a pentagram and where does the USA house its military defence headquarters? All coincidence? Maybe...

The Altar Pentacle
The Altar pentacle can be made from almost any material, but is usually a disk or plate of metal or wood inscribed with the five pointed star in a circle. Some people have even used plain paper with the pentagram drawn upon it, in place of a sturdier version. Whatever works for you.

The pentacle is placed on the altar and may be used to consecrate various tools and is a point of concentration during spellcasting and other ritual workings. It is associated with the Feminine, North, and the element of Earth.

The pentacle (or pentagram) is a Witches symbol of protection and positive power. The five points signify earth, air, fire, water and spirit. Not only used on the altar, pentacles are worn for protection and as jewelry. Pentagrams are also placed in the home for protection from negative energies.

Wiccan Altar Table Details:
These weaving pewter pentacle altar tables are something really special & unusual! They are in the style of the little Indian tables that were so popular at Pier 1 imports, in the 1970's.
The top of the altar table is made of wood and is about 9" across, and 1" thick. There is a vine pattern that runs around the table top. The "flowers" look like shamrocks. The center of the pentacle altar table is a heavy pewter/silver plated pentagram. The pentagram is just about 3" across.

Under the top of the table is a 4"diameter wood disk, also an inch thick. This disk holds the legs for the table. The pentacle altar tables stand on 3 wooden legs that screw into the disk.

The entire altar table stands about 9" tall, when assembled. The legs may be easily removed and the table used as an altar tile, or even a fancy trivet or centerpiece for a holiday table. The color of the table can vary slightly.

Very unusual, and substantial, the pentacle altar table weighs well over 2 lbs. Each pentacle altar table has a unique hand made quality about it, and is sure to be a favorite piece! If you are looking for something really unusual and unique, this has got to be on the list!

Please Note: This wooden pentagram altar table is made by hand in India. As will all hand made items, size, coloring, and pattern may vary slightly on occasion. Also, the pentacle may be pewter OR silver plated, depending on what is arriving here.
