Pure essential oils often need to be diluted before they are used. A "carrier oil" is used to dilute the essential oil. The most often recommended carrier oils are pure jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, apricot kernel oil, almond, and olive oil. Some people even use safflower as a carrier oil.
The first 3 are fairly mild in aroma. Almond and olive oil have their own distinct fragrance and that should be taken into account when considering their use as a carrier oil, but they can be great massage oils. Almost any oil MAY be used, as long as you are ok with the fragrance. However, mineral oil is not recommeded, as it is petroleum based.
Using a carrier oil, as the base, you can add about 5-15 drops of different essential oils for every 1/8 of a cup of carrier oil to make your own blended "essential oils".
These blended essential oils can be used for aromatherapy, to make bath salts, potpourri, sachets, magical potions, annointing candles, and more. It is all up to your imagination!
