Also known as a thurible, this hanging incense burner is a smaller version of the giant censer used by many churches. The incense is said to be symbolic of prayers going to heaven.

According to Webster, a thurible is a covered vase shaped incense burner, with perforated holes to allow the smoke to permeate the atmosphere. Some of these have stands, and others have handles or are hanging, allowing them to be carried about.

This hanging brass thurible, is made in India of polished brass, and can be carried about the room by its chain handle, or may sit on an altar on its own pedestal! They are inexpensive, but well made. They are also fairly light weight, at about 1/2 a pound.

Brass Pedestal Thurible Details:
These brass thuribles hang on 3 chains. There is a hanging loop at the top, to allow you to carry the burner or, to leave it hanging in one spot. The incense burners chains are also removable.

When this thurible is standing on its pedestal, it is about 6" tall. When including the length of the chain, the entire hanging incense burner is about 10" tall. The burner bowl is almost 3" across, and about 2 inches deep. There are 6 cut out holes in the lid, to allow for adequate air flow. There are no holes in the base, so there is no need to worry about falling ashes!

The pedestal burner and lid both have a series of horizontal rings, giving it a slightly tiered appearance. There is a conical shaped knob on the burners lid, making it very easy to lift when adding more incense to the thurible.

These hanging incense burners are made of solid brass and manufactured in India. As they are finished by hand, they may vary slightly from piece to piece.

This hanging incense burner is made for burning incense over charcoal tablets, but they can very easily be used for cone burners, stick burners, or for smudging, as well. The chain handle makes it very easy to carry incense from room to room, or around a circle. Very cool and makes a great gift, too!
