Oils For Aromatherapy Use
Pure Essential Oils From Lotus Light
Pure Citronella Oil
Essential oils are extracted through the chemical process of distillation from aromatic plants, flowers, herbs, woods, and fibers. These essential oils not only give the plant their scent, but they are also essential for the plants biological processes. Because of this many refer to the essential oils as the "life-force" of the plant. Pure Essential oils are widely used in healing and aromatherapy.
Some Metaphysical Uses For Essential Oils
Pure essential oils can be used(once blended) in a bath, in a sachet, on a candle, burned as incense, or worn on the person, and may help to change the way we think and feel, thus changing the course of our lives.
Being pure essential oils, they are not diluted and will need to be, if you are going to wear them or use them for your bath, etc.. Apricot, almond, grapeseed, jojoba, even safflower oil will work as carrier oils. You only need about 5-10 drops of essential oils in 1/8 cup of carrier oil. All essential oils should be kept full strength, in the dark, and away from heat, to keep them potent. When properly stored, these essential oils can last and last and last...
Pure Citronella Essential Oil
From Lotus Light
Our Citronella Essential Oil, comes in a 2 dram square bottle with a plain Grandpa's label, as pictured. This is to help keep the cost down for you. No usage information is included on the label. Please note the purple arrows in the picture. The arrows show you approximately how full the bottles will appear when you receive them, about 1/4 fluid ounce in each bottle of essential oil. This brings the essential oils just to the shoulder of the bottle, not to the top.
Citronella Oil- comes from a grass of the Cymbopogon genus, very similar to lemon grass with a lemon/grassy scent.
Aromatherapy
Citronella oil is said to be warming, gently clarifying, purifying, vitalizing, and a natural stress reliever.
Natural Insect Repellent
Citronella Oil can protect against insect bites. Rumor has it that, mixed with cedarwood oil, Citronella was used to make a commercial insect repellent before chemical sprays were available.
Today, you could blend your own mosquito repellent, perhaps, using citronella, cedarwood, and lavender. You can also annoint an unscented candle with citronella to help keep insect pests away, as it burns. You could even take a few blank (unscented) incense sticks, place a few drops of the oil on each stick, and let them dry for (2-3) days. Then, just burn these sticks for a natural insect repellent.
Magical Uses For Citronella Oil
In magic, Citronella is used in Van Van oil, a New Orleans hoo doo/voo doo staple. It is also used in "Chinese Wash" and one version of a prosperity wash. In this recipe, a few drops of Citronella Oil is added to plain wash water and used to wash floors, walls, and doors, to attract prosperity to the building. Citronella is added to some "passion" potions, as well.
Avoid if pregnant. Use care with sensitive skin and mucus membranes.
