Dragon's Blood Incense ~ Charcoal Resins
Also known as Calamus Draco, Draconis Resina, Sanguis Draconis, Xue Jie, and Sangre del Drago, Dragon's Blood resin comes from a palm tree grown mostly in the far east, but some varieties are grown in South America and Mexico. The resin is very red and will stain almost anything it comes in contact with. Because of its strong color, it has even been used for varnishing furniture and dye. Legend has it that ancient Egyptians used Dragon's blood during the embalming process. It was (and still is) also a part of any witchcraft toolkit.

Called the dragon palm, the fruit of the tree is said to be covered with scales. The resin seeps out between the scales, is collected and processed. At least, that is the story I heard...

Dragon's Blood is a wonderful resin incense for anyone desiring strength, courage, or protection. It is also a must have incense for the magical cabinet. However, it will not burn by itself, but needs to be burned over charcoal blocks.
