The Magical Wand
In traditional Witchcraft, as well in some other Pagan paths, the magick wand is a tool to focus energy. One may use it in ritual to invoke deity, or draw the "magic circle" which creates a sacred space. The wand may also be used to draw magic symbols and as a focal point for directing magical energy. The energy will be released in the direction the magic wand is pointed. In Wicca, the magic wand is related to the element of Air. Some other Pagan paths relate the wand to the element of fire. The ritual wand is phallic in nature, a masculine tool that is sacred to the Gods.

The word Wand seems to come from one of 2 places. The old Norse word Vöndr, meaning rod, and the Gothic word Wandjan, meaning causing to wind or turn.

How To Choose A Magick Wand

Some say that you have to have a magic wand that is Exactly so many inches long, made from a particular virgin wood, gathered in a specific hour, on a specific day, etc., etc. The fact that there are so many magick wands that work equally well, made from a multitude of materials, gathered on various days in various ways, just helps to make the following point:

The wand does not do magick by itself. The magical power is inside you. However, the magic wand is a wonderful tool to focus that special power and direct the magickal energies towards your intentions.

If you are pleased with the appearance of a particular wand and it speaks to your heart, then that is the wand for you. Of course, you can have more than one wand for more than one purpose. Decide what you will be using your magic wand for. Do a little reading about the magickal uses of various woods, magical color associations, the metaphysical properties of gemstones, and then go out and find one that calls to your heart and will suit your purpose.

It only needs to work for you and it makes not one bit of difference what anyone else thinks of your magick wand. The only person using the wand is you and only YOU must feel comfortable with it.

Wood, Clay, and Crystal Magick Wand:
These are attractive little magic wands made of reclaimed wood (can't say what kind), wrapped and decorated in brown/tan fired clay. They arrive here assorted, each with a little kindred spirit and decorated with assorted tumbled gemstones. We never know what style will be coming in. There is usually a crystal point at each end of the wands, but some have only one point and a colored stone at the other end. No two wands will be exactly alike and all come with various colored gemstones and even clay colors can vary from time to time. The magick wands are usually about 5 1/2 to 7 inches long, varying from piece to piece.

The wands kindred spirit may be a gnome, owl, dolphin, flower, cobra, turtle, frog, rabbit, seal, or lizard/iguana. As our supply changes regularly, there is no way for us to be able to say what wand styles will be here.
