Simple How To Instructions 1-To enter the chat room, type in your name and press join! You can pick any name-ladybug, wizard, faerydust, you name it! You can always choose the old standby of guest101, lol. 2-To talk, select the name of a user(in the upper right hand corner) or click on all users, then type your words in the space at the bottom of the screen that says "Enter text here". 3-To send-When you are ready to send the message, press the "Send" button, or just hit "enter" on your keyboard. The message will be sent to "all users" or directed at the specific user you selected in step 2. 4-To Talk Privately-Tell the person you wish to go private, select their user name, then click the "private" button and you will only see their conversation. This allows less text to appear on your chat room screen, making it less confusing when the room is busy. Invite A Friend To Chat-We recommend using the "tell a friend" icon on the chat page, rather than the invite button on the chat screen. The only reason being that Grandpa's is the only one who will see the email addresses you provide when you fill out the form. If you use the invite form on the chat room screen, Multicity will have all those lovely email addresses! Enough Said:) To invite your friends to join you in your chat room, simply click on the Tell A Friend button below the chat room window. A new window will open with the tell a friend form. Simply fill out your name, email address and the names and email addresses of your friends you are inviting. Then in the comments section, you can put the time for your chat( like "Join me at 7pm on Thursday, for a chat on ouija", or "Join the Wicca chat right now, click on the link") Some More Advanced Help Paging Other Users Page Users Once you select a user from the user list, you can click Page User to beep that user; they will hear a musical sound if they have speakers. A note will also appear on the chat room screen to let you know that the user was paged. Sound When this is not checked a user will not hear sounds created by the chat room, such as the paging sound. Sound is located on the advanced screen. View Information View users’ personal statements (information entered by a user describing their hobbies, physical description and more). Select a user name from the user list, and click on View Info to view that user’s personal info. View Homepage This allows you to load another user’s homepage (if one is specified by that user). Select a user’s name from the user list and click on View Homepage to view that user’s homepage. Double-clicking on a user's name in the user list will also display the user's home page. When you load a user’s homepage, you will be logged out of the chat room. Create your own user profile-Go to Multicity.com and register. Always be careful about what kind of information you put on any user profile. You just never know who will be checking you out. Most people just put general interests(crystals, magick, cooking, dogs, etc) and maybe a link to their home page. Again, if you don't want complete strangers to know all about you, then be selective about what you put in your profile. Detach: Open Your Chat Room In A Separate Window If you want to have your Chat Room detach from the browser window do the following: 1. Press Detach once inside the Chat Room. 2. Then minimize the browser window. Do not close the window, because it will disconnect the Chat Room. This function is suggested for optimum viewing of the Chat Room. Navigate The Internet While Chatting If you wish to continue surfing the Internet while chatting, you can use this feature. Go to the Advanced Menu.
