How To Make Your Own Pentacle or Pentagram Buttons By Terry This is rather an old fashioned thing. It is from a time before the wearing of a pentagram became even slightly correct, out in public. It incurs but a small amount of expense, but a lot of personal time and effort. Buy a rather large cloth button that has padding within, or a button that you can place some padding into and sew cloth over. Get enough straight pins to go around the button an even multiple of the number five. (If the pins are too long, snip them with a wire cutter.) Push the pins into the rim of the button at equal intervals until the rim is completely circled--remember the multiple of five--leave about a 3 millimeters protruding. Buy thread of a color that contrasts well with the color of the buttons cloth. Knot the thread around any pin of your choice to begin. Then draw a pentagram with the thread as you would with a pencil. Each time you reach a pin completely circle it twice, draw the thread tight, and push the pin in until the head is flush with the cloth. When you have returned to the pin with the knot circle it twice and push it in until it is flush. Then, when you bring the thread across the cloth of the button to begin another pentagram, move it over one pin to the right.Continue around the button moving to the right after each completed pattern. When there are no longer any empty pins available tie off the thread and glue the end piece of thread from both the first and last pins to the back of the button. There are many ornamental places to sew a simple button. Terry A Pagan Files Archive |

Many pagans, for whatever reason, are short of cash. A question was asked, where
can I find cheap pentagrams? The following pentacle article was the answer,
only it was not where, but how to make your own pentagram. We felt these pentagram
instructions would be of interest to our crafty Wiccan and pagan audience,
as well as craft oriented seekers! These are instructions for making your own
pentagram buttons. Very inexpensive, and probably very relaxing. Watch out for
the pins, though! Thanks to Terry of drak.net for sharing this with us! |
